Optometrist

John F. Sloat, OD is a renowned optometrist specializing in complex visual needs and  ocular diseases. Earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology from Albright College  and Doctorate at Salus University, Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Dr. Sloat  graduated as one of the top in his class while earning acceptance into the prestigious  Gold Key Honor Society. In addition to several clinical rotations and internships, he  performed a year long residency in hospital based primary care optometry in  Philadelphia. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association and has  been published in Review of Optometry, has spoken nationally, been involved in FDA  studies related to LASIK surgery and numerous Investigative Review Board  investigations.  
 

Dr. Sloat began his career at Kremer Laser Eye Center training under founder, Frederick  Kremer, MD. For close to thirty years he practiced and worked with a distinguished  group of eye care specialists focusing on medical eye care, emergency and pre and  post operative care. Given his years working at Kremer Laser Eye Center, Dr. Sloat is  considered one the best in eye care having seen and cared for one of the largest  number of medical, pre and post operative patient populations in the Delaware Valley.  
 

Dr. Sloat established Progressive Eyecare Optique in 2003 having the goal of  establishing a quality medical based, comprehensive eye care practice that would also  set the standard with a high quality optical. Working with a vast group of eye care  professionals related to the treatment of the eye, he is well known and respected by  both patients and peers, with patients coming from all over the Delaware Valley and is  now full time at Progressive Eye Care Optique due to demand. He lives in the Valley  Forge area along with his wife, two daughters and his dog. Even though he grew up in  North Jersey, he loves the South Jersey shore, guitar, golf, Eagles and Phillies.
 

Office Director

Jenna Hartung, our office director, attended Villa Maria Academy before moving onto Temple University where she studied Art Education. Jenna worked in retail where she was exposed to the latest/cutting edge fashion trends- then moved on to the dental industry where she enjoyed the patient interaction.

At Progressive Eyecare Optique she found it to be the best of both worlds, taking care of the eye health of patients along with our wonderful team of experts and offering quality eyewear with the latest in lens technology and eyewear trends. Her motto is, a person must look great in their eyewear and she makes sure they do!
